Thailand vowed Monday to crack down on illegal casinos, after a maverick politician accused senior police officers of owning gambling dens in central Bangkok.

….Announcing the clampdown, Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubumrung said Monday that he had spent more than a year gathering information on casinos while his party was in opposition until its election win last month.

“Not only the casino on Rama IX road, but also other casinos in other areas will no longer exist,” he told reporters.

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung has promised to crack down on websites with lese majeste content and to look into alleged intimidation of the press by red shirts.

…Mr Chalerm, who oversees the Royal Thai Police Office, said taking action against websites containing content that insults the monarchy would be one of his top priorities.

Action has been taken against two senior Bangkok police officers and three other policemen after allegations in Parliament this week of widespread illegal gambling.

….The move took place after Chuwit Kamolvisit, leader of the Loving Thailand Party, revealed a gambling-den operation in Bangkok’s police jurisdiction with the initial “Sor” during Tuesday’s Parliament session, and later commented further on other gambling dens in the Ratchadaphisek area.

Dr Pipat Yingseri, Secretary of the Food and Drug Administration and Pol.Col. Pitoon Koomsaprom, Deputy Commander of the Consumer Protection Police realesed the news of a crack down on illegal sex enhancement drug vendors in the Sukumvit, Klongtan and Yaowarat area.

Recently, FDA Consumer Protection Police arrested seven street stalls vendors selling sex boosters in the Charoenkrung road area. Some stalls were selling illegal sex toys such as artificial genitals. Upon further inspection a number of number of fake sex enhancement drugs and other unregistered drugs were discovered.
